A pick-your-own cherries festival has been cancelled in Cornwall, UK, after blackbirds ate all the fruit. A couple of days before the festival, eighty trees’ worth of cherries had been feasted on by these famously vocal birds that have been singing in the area since late spring.

The incident is frustrating but the organizers do not blame the birds and still believe that they are extremely cute. The plan is to hold an apple picking event instead.
According to Laura Jarman from the National Trust, she checked the cherries shortly before the event, but the blackbirds cleared the fruit afterwards.
The incident is an example of how unpredictable nature is and how it can sometimes affect people’s plans.
