Famous African elephant Tim dies at the age of 50

Kenya Wildlife Service announced the sad news: one of the last remaining great ‘tusker’ elephants, Tim, died at the age of 50 in southeast Kenya.
The elephant died early Tuesday morning, February 4, in Amboseli National Park.
According to Kenya Wildlife Service spokesman Paul Udoto, Tim’s body was transported to Nairobi National Museum for taxidermists to prepare the body for preservation for education and exhibition purposes.
The animal died of natural causes. Tim’s tusks weighed at least 45.4kg each, and their size made him a prime target for poachers. In 2016, Tim survived a spear attack, with a spear going through his ear and snapping off into his shoulder.
Another incident occurred in 2018, when the elephant got stuck in mud for hours.
