Lots of dead jellyfish pushed ashore by tides in Anapa

Lots of dead jellyfish were pushed ashore by tides near Anapa’s Bolshoy Utrish nature reserve. Eyewitnesses posted videos on Instagram.
Svetlana Pankova, a biologist and ecologist from Anapa, associates the mass death of jellyfish near the Black Sea coast with sudden temperature fluctuations. Abnormally warm weather in the region during the holiday season led to faster jellyfish reproduction. Then, it got significantly colder and windier, which caused the death of the jellyfish.
