Wildfire on Canary Islands forces residents to evacuate

News about wildfires in different parts of the world emerge every day. On Saturday, a wildfire broke out on Gran Canaria Island (one of the Canary Islands). According to local media reports, as the fire covered a large area, more than 1,000 people (residents of the Artenara, Tejeda and Gáldar municipalities) were evacuated from the island.
According to the Twitter account of the Canary Islands rescue service, as of Saturday, the fire covered more than 1,000 hectares of forest.
The fire extinguishing involves 10 aircraft and about two 200 military personnel , but despite their efforts, the fire remains uncontrolled and continues to spread.
The alleged firestarter — a 55-year-old man — was arrested and accused of using a welding machine in close proximity to the road, which probably caused the fire.
