According to Levchenko, the authorities plan to build 500 apartments for flood victims by October 1, 2020. A list of social infrastructure facilities affected by the flood will be compiled by August 15.
In addition to the construction of new housing, the authorities will pay compensation for the loss of property: 50,000 rubles for partial loss and 100,000 rubles for total loss. Although the region is facing another round of flash floods, all affected residents will receive the funds in a timely manner. About 23,000 out of 45,000 people have already received compensation.
In late June, heavy rains caused flash floods in the Irkutsk region, killing 25 people. The total damage is estimated at 30 billion rubles.
