Powerful earthquake occurs near Alaska, prompting tsunami warning

The US Geological Survey recorded a 7.4-magnitude earthquake off the coast of Alaska at 10:48 p.m. Saturday. The epicenter was 106 kilometers south of Sand Point. The quake occurred at a depth of 9 kilometers.

There were no reports of casualties or damage.

The US National Weather Service sent a tsunami advisory.
