On August 28, the Burning Man festival began in Nevada, but on Saturday, September 2, officials closed the event’s gates, making it impossible to enter and exit. About 73,000 people who had already arrived at the festival were urged to shelter in place.
The streets surrounding the festival, usually dry desert terrain, are now puddles and ruts, making it more difficult for people to move around.
The organizers are urging festival-goers to conserve their food, water and fuel, and be careful when using electrical appliances.
