Two earthquakes shake Iran

According to the US Geological Survey, two earthquakes with magnitudes of 4.9 and 4.5 hit Iran on January 8. The quakes began at night (2:20 a.m. local time, 5:20 a.m. Moscow time). The epicenter of the first one was 10 kilometers east of the city of Borazjan at a depth of 10 kilometers. The epicenter of the second earthquake that occurred an hour later was a little farther, 17 kilometers from Borazjan.

Both earthquakes were dangerously close to the Bushehr nuclear power plant. There were no reports of casualties and destruction.
According to the IRNA agency, the two powerful earthquakes were accompanied by several weaker ones, with a total of seven quakes recorded.
