Heavy rains have been lashing southern China for several days and have caused large-scale floods. Authorities of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region have evacuated more than 300 people from the flood zone. However, 100,000 people still stay in north of the region.
The water levels are rising rapidly. People are trying to escape on their own, and rescuers are helping them. There are reports of people climbing trees to escape flood waters. Vehicles can hardly move on the flooded roads that have turned into rivers because of the rains.
The incessant rains have already caused significant damage to the regional infrastructure and agriculture and destroyed sown fields. The rains have washed out roads and caused power outages in many areas.
China’s Hunan and Jiangxi Provinces of have also been affected by heavy rains. Hundreds of rescuers are eliminating the consequences of the disaster and restoring destroyed buildings, roads and bridges.
