45,000 people evacuated from flood-hit East China

According to the local emergency service, heavy rains caused flash floods in East China’s Jiangxi Province.
Rescuers evacuated 45,000 people. About 1,200 people needed emergency medical care. The disaster has affected 500,000 people in 23 districts of Jiangxi Province. Rescuers had to use boats to reach some settlements. Local authorities reported that 50 houses were destroyed and 90 houses damaged by rising water. More than 37,000 hectares of farmland was flooded.

The rains began on June 6, continued for several days, and caused a large-scale flood. It stopped raining on Tuesday. Damage is preliminarily estimated at $94 million. So far there are no reports of dead or injured.
