Echoes of the wildfires that have been raging in Australia since November have reached other countries. Thick smoke has covered the sky over Argentina and parts of Chile. The Official Meteorological Service of Chile tweeted that «the smoke has been transported by the air flow to Chile and Argentina.»
Satellite images also show that the smoke is spreading over the countries, but fortunately it is high and doesn’t affect the locals. Argentina’s national weather service has also confirmed the presence of smoke.
Forests have been burning in Australia since November. The fire has destroyed ten percent of the territory and damaged many homes. There are casualties. According to the latest data, the death toll has reached 24. About 8,000 koalas, who are a symbol of Australia, and hundreds of other animals have died in the fires.
More than 3,000 military personnel are taking part in the fire extinguishing.
