Russians lose interest in ice cream amid cold weather

According to Gazeta.Ru citing representatives of retail chains, this summer demand for ice cream in Russia has fallen due to cold weather.
Weather conditions have affected Russians’ interest in not only ice cream but also beer, kvass, soft drinks, melons and watermelons. Due to decreasing consumer interest in traditional ‘summer’ products, many chains have launched promotions and offer up to 35 percent discounts to boost demand.
As previously reported, summer has been pretty chilly in many Russian regions. For example, Moscow had the coldest ‘warmest’ day of summer in 70 years, while July’s lowest temperature was recorded in Tambov.
