Murmansk has been experiencing record warm weather. The absolute heat record was broken on May 21, when the mercury rose to +22.7°C, which is the highest temperature since the beginning of May. Moreover, it was not the first temperature record: the other two were set on May 15 and 16.

The weather will remain unusually warm on May 23 and 24. The average daily temperature will be 7-8°C above normal. In the afternoon, the mercury will rise to +20…+25°C, causing a high fire risk in the Murmansk region.
At the same time, the polar day has begun in Murmansk, so the sun will not set below the horizon for more than two months.
