This summer’s heaviest rain recorded in St. Petersburg on July 9

On July 9, St. Petersburg saw this summer’s heaviest rain that brought a quarter of the monthly norm of precipitation. The daily amount (26mm) made up one third of the monthly norm and set a record for that day. The previous record for July 9 was 25mm and was set in 1966.
The weather was cold on the northern periphery of a Baltic cyclone. The maximum temperature reached +15.2.
That was not the first heavy rain since the beginning of July. The previous one was observed on July 3. As of July 9, the total amount of precipitation accounted for 70% of the monthly norm.
