A cold snap
in Western Siberia has resulted in 40-degree frost from the Ob River to the Kolyma River and from the Taymyr Peninsula to Lake Baikal. For comparison, this territory occupies a larger area than Europe.
This season has not seen 50-degree frost so far. But winter has just begun. The temperature in the Oymyakonsky district of Yakutia has already reached −49.
